too many computers

Every time I find a few spare minutes to haxor the codes I grab the closest computer, the one not being used by other family members, and GO! For me this is a relatively new phenomenon brought about by my adoption of, initially npm and now yarn and using all the open source code there is. I’ve also had to give up expectations of “proper” debugging and IDE support tools. Like a lot of the world I’ve also adopted VSCode. Read more

Favicon Fiasco

I’m so excited!!! I have a blog! Let me share it … let me post it on Teams (Microsoft Teams) to my work colleagues … … lovely, except the little picture image isn’t the one I thought I setup. It must be a faviocon thing, maybe an interaction with the way github pages works. Lot’s of googling later investigating all of githubpages, hugo, hugo themes, favicons and NOTHING 😰 Read more

Free blog

Build a blog for free. A free blog is doable if you work in IT, otherwise just pay someone to do it. This blog has three parts: the storage is on GitHub; the framework is Hugo; and the deploy engine is CircleCI. These were just the best fit at the time, free and simple. This simplicity does mean limited functionality but the remit was just a basic blog so this isn’t an issue. Read more
